Crafter's Companion 5th Birthday!

I've been away quite a while now... mainly WoW is keeping me busy in the evening and I haven't been able to do much crafting. I still haven't finished my christmas cards...
Buuuut...! I managed to finish a card for Crafter's Companion 5th Birthday!I love making these double consertina cards! They look so complicated (I got people that couldn't fold it after they opened it ^^) but they are so easy to make!I picked the Fairies of the Garden cd (although my first idea was to do a card with all of Beatrix Potter's cd) because I love pink and the idea with the double consertina card would work better with some fairy decoupage. So here it is! I am going to enter it to the competition so wish me luck! :D

Popocorn birthday card

I know I should be making cards for christmas but I had to make a quick card for a boy's birthday, he will be 1 year old on Tuesday.
I thought Crafter's Companion Popcorn cd would be perfect for this. I found a lovely decoupage image of Popcorn on a present and Soufle looking at him, printed the matching backing paper, insert as well as one of the co-ordinating papers with presents on, dug out my lovely X-cut border punch (got that at Ally Pally last week!) and some pastel blue centura pearl card. Some plain blue paper, a bit of ribbon and some glitter glue joined their friends. I also printed the phrase "1st birthday" from Crafter's Companion Peter Rabbit cd in pale blue.
The insert is held on the blue backing paper with two flower brads as it is printed on velum and I wanted to give it some movement.
I wasn't planning on making it into an easel card when I was printing everything off but when I finished with the decoupage it sort of wanted to be put on an easel card, so I obbeyed. Yes, I do love easel cards, they are so simple to make and they look so interesting.
So here it is, my Sunday afternoon birthday card. I am quite pleased with it!

Maybe next month

I didn't win a prize at the Crafter's Companion challenge this month. Too bad, since I really wanted that Winter's Tale cd but oh well. At least I got to publish my first card out there for other crafters to see. Next time I will try harder and maybe make more cards for the challenge. Feeling a bit more confident now! ^^
As a little treat, here's is my very first commissioned card. I had never made a card for someone else before (haven't made much after this one either...) as I make cards for me, to give to friends and family.
I am very proud of this card. That flower looks amazing, I really should sit down and make some more paper flowers; I had so much fun making that one!

And for my first crafty post!

...here is the card I made for the Crafter's Companion challege.

I was at first thinking of using some of the cd's I already have since I have all of CC Beatrix Potter CD's but when I saw the free Winter's Tale pack I knew I had to use that! It also gave me the chance to use a new card type that I've been dying to use.

As for the snowflakes... they seem to be my obsession for this year's christmas cards. I just put them everywhere! And I love to think that snowflakes are winter's butterfiles ^^

So here's my card!

New blog, first post...

Here I am... my new blog. It will be dedicated to crafting, which has taken over a big part of my free time and a big part of the house. It was taking over the living room until all my crafting material were moved to Nya's room. Nya is my beautiful (and she knows it) black cat who is now having to share her room with mommy when she is crafting. So to thank her for sharing her room I decided to name my blog "Nya's Room"

I will try to update this blog regularly but I am hardly a "good blogger". I hope to be adding my craft creations here to share them with everyone and hopefully give inspiration to people as so many people, unknowingly, have given inspiration to me through their blogs.
So this is my chance to give something back.
